Guiamaca, Honduras, April 2013. (Not sure if I took this one or a colleague, but have to share.) Mandy and I went on a surgical mission here (ortho, ENT). One of the services that the sponsoring organization (BMDMI) also provides there is distribution of fresh water from their private well to the community. They make two runs a day to area residents that do not have indoor plumbing. There are a number of messages in this picture. Most of us have no idea how others live,… or live without – no water, no plumbing, no shoes, no floors. These kids are beautiful with unknown (and in their circumstances, perhaps unreachable) potentials. Maybe our life’s efforts are best spent helping others. These children are happy, and they materially have nothing, living so far below US “poverty” standards as to be unimaginable to those that do not witness. This is a Perspective picture.
